Blogspiration: Historically Inspired Lolita, Frill Review, Wearing Lolita To "Inappropriate" Places, & More!

You may recall that last autumn I updated with few of my favorite posts by other bloggers at the time. I've been thinking about doing it again, and so here we are! After all, if the sad state of my blog updates hasn't clued you in, I've been doing a lot more blog reading than I have been writing!

 Photo from Artsy-Fartsy Mama

First up, a tutorial for using molds to make your own cabochons from Artsy-Fartsy Mama! As some of you might know, I pour a lot of my own resin pieces, and so the thought of making my own cabochons sounds like a pretty tedious task unless I happen to have a mold that can make many pieces, which is an incredibly expensive thing to ask for, and a still pretty expensive and also messy thing to make on my own, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that this tutorial used polymer clay! A much quicker, and less-messy alternative, and the pieces still looked amazing! Now, not everyone out there assembles their own jewelry pieces, so I though that this tutorial would be perfect for those that do a lot of deco work, as cabochon-heavy deco pieces tend to be pretty expensive to make, since cabochons can cost almost a dollar a piece. Which is no big deal if you only want one, but as anyone who's been bitten by the deco bug knows, one cabochon is never enough! You can pick up the mods she uses from Mold Muse, which look incredibly professional and are reasonably priced. After checking out her tutorial, I think I might pick up some molds from them this week!

Xelyna the Gothic Lolita has a very useful translation of Kera's June issue of Top 16 Fashion Keywords. It's basically just a pretty cool list of 16 trends for the month, and it's nice to see some things I'm already very interested in on there (Classic Lolita & teeth motifs!) as well as some things that I think sound pretty cool and I'd love to try out this summer (wearing all white & see-through gowns!).

An amazing Gothic Lolita coordinate inspired by 1790's fashion and the French Revolution.

Calanthe's Nightingale is a pretty amazing Tumblr, and I actually just realized that she has some pretty awesome longer blog posts on there! Unfortunately, due to the "real time" nature of Tumblr, I just completely missed out on these when she posted them last year! But I gladly ate them up when I discovered them on her awesome Tumblr last week. Along with some other very interesting blog posts, she has a small series entitled The Historical Lolita, where she has some incredibly in-depths posts about making coordinates inspired by specific decades from the 1700's. I have to admit, I don't know enough about the 1700's to tell one decade from the next, so these were amazing to read and to get inspired by! You can check out her posts about 1760, 1770, 1780, and 1790 on her Tumblr. I know these are from a while ago, but I would definitely love to see her pick up this series again!

Over on The Everyday Goth, the ever-witty Mary Rose has been doing some wardrobe cleanup and spends a post musing about What Makes A Wardrobe Complete. It's not necessarily a post with tips and tricks for those of you looking for an answer to that question, but I found her commentary on a What Not To Wear book she found in her bookshelf hilarious and completely relevant to any one of us, Lolita or Goth, who are outside of the "mainstream" fashion scene. For those of you looking for an actual check-list for a Goth wardrobe, later in the week she followed up on that post with her own list of what she considers a complete Goth wardrobe.

On Violet LeBeaux, my go-to blog for easy and fun tutorials and girly pink inspiration, she recently posted a tutorial for a cute retro style, but oh-so-trendy, beaded collar that is so much simpler than I ever thought one could be! I love the one that she is modelling above, because it looks so much like a vintage pearl collar that my grandma used to own! I think this easy tutorial could be applied to so many different styles of Lolita: a beaded pearl collar for Classic Lolitas, a pink deco'd collar for the Sweet Lolita, a black pearl & blue (or red!) cut-class bead collar for the Gothic Lolita, and even a studded one for any Punk Lolitas out there! I love the retro look of this collar, because I think that it could also easily be an accessory that can be worn outside of Lolita, or even in other fashions like Dolly Kei or Cult Party Kei.

There was a recent post on EGL, the LJ-based hub for Lolitas worldwide, about wearing Lolita in "inappropriate" places, such as donning the frills for jury duty! It was just a post where people chimed in and told their stories about the least appropriate place they have worn Lolita, but it was such a fun read. It's things like this that remind a lot of us that Lolita is just your everyday fashion for a lot of people worldwide!

Some drool-worthy photos of the boutique at Frill, courtesy of Sonia from over at Lolibrary.

Finally, I want to talk, again a little bit about the Lolita convention that recently happened, Frill! Despite the fact that I couldn't make it this year, the whole weekend it was happening, I was so excited for everyone who got to go XD I was refreshing Tumblr and EGL a lot more than usual that weekend, hoping people would post some quick snaps of it. Thankfully, the blog posts and photos have finally started rolling in from it! I am overjoyed to learn that almost everyone who went counted it as a complete and total success! I am also excited to hear that, hopefully, next year's Frill plans to be in a bigger and better location. All the reports I've heard have said that there were between 150 and 200 attendees, which is a pretty massive amount of Lolitas to all gather in one place! The above photos are of the boutique, and taken by Sonia of Lolibrary, but if you want a little bit longer of a post, you can check out Inside Elegy's huge post about her experience at the con!

I am so excited to hear that Frill was a success, because something like this, a massive gathering that was organized by and for Lolitas, in their very own convention setting, is really a huge step for Lolitas in the US! Even though Frill was a very long ways away from me, next year, I'm sort of determined to make it in person.

Lace & Petticoats: A Lolita Documentary

Lolita documentaries are few and far between, but they are always fun to watch when they pop up! Sometime last week Lace & Petticoats was posted to EGL and I found it a very fun and quick watch.

It's a bit of a combination of peeks into various Lolita's lives (and closets!) and basic information on the fashion, and it's definitely a good video to send in the direction of anyone looking to know more about what the fashion is really about. Personally, I thought some of the editing was a little frivolous and distracting, but other than that it's a very well put together and interesting mini-documentary!

If you're looking for some more Lolita documentaries, Babydoll Princess has compiled a pretty comprehensive list in this post! Do you have any favorite Lolita documentaries? I'm pretty fond of the Japanese one titled "Lifestyle of Goth-Loli Girls" on Youtube because I love the glimpses of all the cool places in Japan the Lolitas hang out and and shop at. I would probably pass out from excitement if I ever got the chance to see that doll museum or step foot in that 4 floor Lolita department store!

Lolita Blogspiration

I am pretty addicted to the world of cute, creative, and Lolita blogs, I love spending a few hours browsing around them, reading new articles and exploring new blogs by clicking around on links. I've tried to find ways to promote the various blogs I love, and articles I find interesting, from occasional shout outs, to the short lived "weekly prompt" thing that you may or may not have noticed on my sidebar. But I think the best way to send some blogging love out there is just to make a post about it. Will this be a new series? I have no idea! I would like to do this regularly, but, as I am sure you have noticed on here, I love to drop new series just as quickly as I start them.

Even if I just do it this one time, or every now and then, I hope you'll check out these blog posts and hopefully get as inspired by them as I have been!

Over at Cupcake's Clothes check out this amazing shooting star nail tutorial! It's done on fake nails, but it's simple enough to do on your own nails. While my own Lolita wardrobe is not exactly the most colorful one, I am a complete sucker for cute pastel combos, and an even bigger sucker for stars!

Being Badass: Having Self Confidence is a post over on Geekminina (formerly Ramble Rori) about, you guessed it, being badass and having self confidence. It has some great tips for those of us that sometimes feel like we are not being the awesome person that we could be, as well as some tips on walking the fine line between believing in yourself and being a jerk. Christina has actually started a series on being badass, something I will be looking forward to more posts about!

Over at iHanna, which is a crafty blog filled with eyecandy that I love to browse, she made a post about a neat little internet gizmo that makes fancy color splotches based on search terms through an image bank. Using things I don't quite understand, like technology and math and the internet, you just punch in a word and it makes instant art! I had fun punching in a variety of Lolita words, trying to guess what the resulting picture would look like, then being surprised at how wrong I usually was!

This post is a bit old, but even though it's from a blog I follow I somehow managed to miss it until now! Over at Moss Garden, Martha posted a wonderful Brothers Grimm fairy tale with a Mori Girl inspired coordinate. Her coordinates are definitely some of my top favorites, so this post was a real treat. Check it out for both the fairy tale and some more amazing photos of the coordinate!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am sort of a craft fanatic. If you can make it, I want to learn how to do it and make it for myself. My newest craft obsession is perfume oils. Some time ago I was trying to hunt down a very specific scent and was turning up empty handed so thought "Hey, why don't I just... make it?" so I did a bunch of googling and found that it was something I figured I might be able to do. I now have a small army of single notes and plans for releasing some signature scents in my Etsy. My experimentations are on hold for about a week though because I managed to spill a bunch of oil on my desk, so now my work space smells like a cupcake, making blending quite difficult! For those of you out there who want to possibly try this somewhat daunting task (It's not really harder than it looks, just more time consuming and fiddly) check out this tutorial over on Indie Fixx for making your own signature scents. I'm actually really loving Indie Fixx for their tutorials right now, I'm practically drooling over this one on infused sugar!

That's it for now! I am constantly reading blogs and hunting down tutorials and finding things I want to share with everyone, so hopefully I'll remember to feature some of the more fantastic finds on my blog here!

Lolita Fashion Generator

I was looking around on DeviantArt and I came across this generator. You press a button and it gives you a random assortment of Lolita related words. It was pretty fun to click it and see what I got, and it started giving me a few generated phrases that I thought actually sounded pretty fantastic! So, I busted out the Photoshop and drew some little fashion sketches of the phrases it gave me.

Enchanted Rhinestone JSK
Why don't more brands use rhinestones on their pieces? Some brands are pretty liberal with the glitter, and a few elegant rhinestones are just so much more classy looking than plain old glittery paint!

Spotted Castle Cardigan
Pretty self explanatory! Polka-dots and castles on a cardigan, with some glitter to make it even more OTT.

Poodle Romance Headdress
I was going to just skip over this one because I couldn't think of how to put a romantic poodle on your head and then I realized that the answer was pom-poms! A simple pink headdress with 3 big white pom-poms on either side, to make you sort of look like you have poodle hair. Nothing says "romance" like sharing a hairstyle with a dog!

Kitten Parade Skirt
Has this been done before? A kitten parade seems like such an obvious choice for a Lolita print, that I would be surprised if someone hasn't done it some where. I had Innocent World in mind when I drew it.

Mermaid Diary Blouse
I don't really know if mermaids keep diaries, or how to include that subject on a blouse, so instead I just opted for a fancy Victorian blouse (Diary=Fancy=Victorian was my train of thought) in a mermaidy color with some pearl details.

Cherry Choir Bow
I love that bright magenta color that Baby the Stars Shine Bright sometimes uses, I am pretty sure they refer to it as "cherry", so inspired by that color, and including some cherries as well, I drew this little bow.

Cake Cherub Stockings
This one had me thinking for a little bit! There were so many different ways to depict "Cake cherub", cherubs holding cakes, cakes with cherubs flying out of it, cherubs made out of cake (that thought kind of disturbs me actually), cherubs dancing all over a cake, a cake decorated with frosting cherub designs. I quickly decided on cakes with cherub wings, as that seemed the most logical choice.

Fantasy Glade Nightgown
If I didn't have the word "nightgown" at the end, I probably would have drawn a deep green print of trees and a stream, but it just seems too frivolous to wear a brand print to bed! So I just chose a nice forest green and a romantic styling.

Some other great ones that I didn't get a chance to illustrate were Marie Antoinette Heart Apron, Stripey Coffin Bloomers, Rose Ace-of-spades Wristcuffs, Gothic Dove Sunhat, Precious Orchard Coat, and Floral Chandelier Maiden. I can really imagine all of those as being something actual Lolita brands release!

I love silly generators like these, they sometimes can really help to inspire you, try clicking around on it and see what you can come up with!

Glacée: A New English Language Lolita Magazine!

In my last post I hinted at a project I've been working on with some other Lolitas, well, the day has finally come where I can blab as much as I want about it :D

I'm part of a Lolita magazine team! The magazine is called Glacée and and will be a print magazine all about Lolita and living elegantly both in and out of the fashion. There are a lot of us working behind the scenes on this including the Lolitas behind:

Even though there are a bunch of it working on this together, we're still looking for submissions from talented artists, writers, journalists, photographers, or any other creative Lolitas who would be interested in helping us put together our debut issue. Glacée is a magazine about the Lolita fashion, by real life Lolitas.

I'm really excited to be working on such an awesome project like this! I love Lolita magazines and have a huge pile of Keras, G&LBs, Gosuroris, and even a handful of more obscure Lolita magazines that only ever saw a couple issues, so it's really exciting that we get to work on not only another one, but an English language one aimed at western Lolitas.

Click the banner above to check out our blog for more information, including a list of things that we could really use a little bit of help with.

So, if you've always wanted to get your picture, art, or writing printed in a Lolita magazine, this could be your chance! So check out the blog, follow it even, because for those of you who are interested in contributing something but are too shy or don't have the time to write a full-length article there will be occasional polls and questions for people to get involved with and your response could be featured in an issue of the magazine!

Gothic & Lolita Bible 37

I feel like I've been waiting forever for the new Bible to come out! Like many Lolita's, I don't really buy the Bibles any more. With import fees they are just too expensive and sometimes they are nearly impossible to find without having to spend even more on shipping. So, instead I wait around for someone else to buy it and scan it and upload it to Jmagazinescans, a Live Journal community devoted to scanning and uploading Japanese magazines. Earlier this morning I did my usual desperate check on the comm to see if the new Bible has been uploaded, and what do you know!? It has been! By two different people no less. You can download your own copy here or here. Of course, there are drawbacks to just downloading the magazine, first of all being that you aren't supporting the makers of the magazine, but also you sometimes have to deal with low resolution scans, missing pages, and you don't get to have your own flesh and blood (er, paper and glue) copy of the magazine. But, for free, you can't complain, and you can always pick up the real thing later if you really like it, and if you can find it.

This issue of G&LB was sort of a let down. Nothing really blew my mind and the photoshoots ranged from "meh" to "sort of neat". The patterns, on the other hand, are awesome, and a good incentive to actually buy it since scans of the patterns are nearly never included with scans of the magazine. Pattern scans for this issue feature a beautiful BtSSB nightgown, an h.NAOTO headpiece, a Peace Now star shaped purse, an Angelic Pretty hooded capelet, and an Innocent World apron, bustle skirt, and detachable bib collar. That's enough goodies to make up for the uninspired photos and coordinates!

One final thing, before I get to a few of my favorite pages, on the topic of complaining about things I love, let's talk about these new photo covers :( Frankly, I hate them. I loved the beautiful cover art that the Bibles used to feature and I really don't care about whoever it is on any of the covers. There is, sadly, little art inside each of the Bibles, so why take it off the cover and replace it with something you can find in abundance inside? The illustrated covers felt like something much more special to me, with glamor shots on the cover it feels like just another fashion magazine. The Bibles have always been a little bit more than just a fashion magazine, containing bits of Loliwisdom and sewing projects and all sorts of other useful things that make you a well-rounded Lolita, even if you couldn't always read the language. But the cover glamor shots sort of take away that feeling for me.

What did I like about this issue besides the patterns? Well, there were a few things at least, and I'd like to share some of them with you. Click for a much larger picture.

This issue also featured what looked like an in-depth guide to the different kinds of Lolita clothes and styles and laces. Which would be pretty useful and interesting, if I could actually read Japanese!

Playing With Digital Dolls: Poupee Girl

So, I'm back on the Poupee wagon after about 2 years of not playing. What is Poupee you ask? It's half dress up game and half wardrobe show off. You upload pictures of your own clothes to display in a virtual closet and in return you get clothes to dress up your avatar and "ribbons" which you can spend on the site to buy more clothes for your avatar.

Instead of clearing out my super old account (I've had it since Poupee Girl was all in Japanese, they had just celebrated their first Christmas!) I started a new account. Click here if you're interested in seeing the Lolita pieces in my closet. I only have a few things uploaded right now, mostly just the JSKs that were in my armoire, but I'm slowly adding more pictures. If you're already on Poupee, add me as a friend!

Lolita Movie: Mister Rococo

While checking my blog roll, I noticed mention of an upcoming Lolita film, Mr. Rococo. Mr. Rococo is an upcoming Lolita centric-film about a Lolita who falls for a guy who only likes strong girls, so to win his heart, this frilly little girl starts lifting weights and training. While this upcoming movie isn't actually a feature length film, like Kamakazi Girls was, it's apparently a short film, to be show at the Short Shorts Film Festival, a Film Festival featuring shorts that clock in at under 25 minutes.

This sounds like a cute and fun film, a guilty pleasure for Lolitas everywhere. The plot sounds like silly fun, and the main character is at least a departure from the frail and helpless girl that Momoko aspired to be.

There are a few things about this movie that kind of rub me the wrong way, mainly the way that movies like this often seem to be like feature length commercials for our favorite burando. But, all in all, I don't think this movie is meant to be taken very seriously, it seems like a silly romp through the frills that probably has a heart warming message at the end. So I'll try to quench my apparent rage at being advertised to, for something I already buy in abundance, whenever it is I get around to watching this film.

If you want to check out a trailer for the upcoming short, click here to head over to their official site!

So, what do you think about the upcoming Mister Rococo? Silly Lolita fun, or obnoxious feature length commercial? What kind of Lolita movies would you like to see made? More light and fluffy pieces about Lolitas that live in a pastel dreamworld, or more realistic pieces where Lolitas are just normal girls in fancy dresses that have relateable problems?

Penpals of the Frilly Kind

Recently on the EGL community there has been a lot of talk about Lolita snail-mail pen pals. There is even a pen pal exchange going on (which closes tonight), or if you prefer to go at things your own pace and find a pen pal for yourself there is the rather active community, Lolita Letters.

I love the idea of having a Lolita pen pal! I used to write letters constantly when I was younger, sadly, that all changed when I got a computer. The slippery slope began with me *gasp* writing letters on the computer then printing them out! Then, eventually, just emailing people if I couldn't catch them on AIM. I have saved, even though it's probably buried in a pile of junk somewhere, a trapper keeper I had in 6th grade filled with all the letters I had received, as well as a couple that I never got around to sending! After seeing the post on EGL about pen pals I became a bit nostalgic for getting letters in the mail and started looking for a pen pal for myself again, even though I am very out-of-practice, my handwriting is not what you would call fancy and my hand starts to get tired after a couple sentences. Years ago I actually did have a Lolita pen pal, back when I was a lone Lolita and not even on Livejournal, I had found her through the pen pal section of a stationery site. She was the first other Lolita that I ever got to really talk to, as a lone Lolita at the time it was wonderful to have someone who knew and loved the fashion as much as I did. And besides, exchanging even the most polite and formal letters is so much more rewarding than exchanging Internet memes and witty one-liners with thousands of strangers on the other side of a computer.

If you have found yourself a pen pal, here are a few tips and ideas to make it even better:
  • Be safe. The most obvious tip, don't just post your address to a Lolita forum asking for letters, only exchange addresses with someone you think you can trust, even if you have to send some emails back and forth first. Also, if you post an ad somewhere looking for pen pals, don't feel as if you have to accept everyone who asks. When I got my first Lolita pen pal I also got a variety of creepers asking for my address, who seemed to be under the impression that a kawaii stationery site was their personal dating site. The best place to find a Lolita pen pal would be from one of the Lolita communities, because you can always check up on feedback to make sure the person is who they say they are.
  • Buy a book of stamps! Stamps are the most important thing you'll need, even more so than fancy paper. It's never fun to let your pen pal wait just because you have to hunt down a stamp every time you want to send a letter. Having a whole book handy is a good idea if you have an international pen pal too, since sending a single letter usually costs a dollar or more worth of stamps. Pick out some stamps that are particularly pretty or have a theme you love to wear in Lolita. I have a book of stamps from Valentines day that is done in king and queen of hearts card suite style.
  • Buy some pretty stationery. I'm sure most Lolita pen pals are formed because Lolitas always manage to have a surplus of cute stationery that they are looking to get rid of! You can either go the uber-kawaii route and find some cute mascot stationery, or maybe something a bit more formal like high quality paper embossed with pretty flowers. You can even find places online to print your own stationery, or make your own.
  • Seal your letters with a wax seal.  I love wax seals! They are just so fancy, and you can usually find stampers in any design you need, from cute shapes to your initial. If you don't like the idea of dripping hot wax all over your letter, you can usually find faux wax seal stickers in the scrap book isle of craft stores. They look just like the real thing, only less messy.
  • Include a small flat gift with your letters. This should be something small and flat that would fit in an envelope, like maybe pressed flowers, an artist trading card, a sheet of stickers, or even a few pieces of large glitter shapes. If you go the glitter route, don't just fill an envelope with fine glitter though, that's just a mess waiting to happen.
  • Decorate the envelope. Either cover it in stickers or draw something pretty all over it. If you don't think you are that creative, you can usually find places online with pre-decorated envelopes that you can print out, fold-up, and send out.
  • Write your letter with unusual ink. My favorite out-of-the-ordinary pens are Souffle pens, they are a kind of gel pen that writes with a puffy 3D ink, and they come in a ton of great colors, including a lot of pastels. Or how about a calligraphy pen?
  • Most importantly, write regularly! You don't have to always be sending out letters covered in stickers and glitter, so don't put off writing a letter if all you happen to have on you is some lined notebook paper! Once you get to know you're pen pal, you'll soon find the content of the letter, not the decoration or the stationary, is the most important and enjoyable part.

Mini Moo Cards and My Deco Adventure

I have been dying for a reason to get Mini Moo cards for some time now! And I've finally found a reason to get some, my blog and shop :D If you don't know what a Mini Moo card is, basically, it's like a business card, cut in half, only you can get them printed, both sides, in full color, using as many different pictures as you want. I purchased mine so I have something to include with orders from my shop, and because I go to a fair share of conventions, so now I will have something to give to people who ask about me or my bonnets, besides just a URL scribbled on the back of a schedule. As well as a pack of Mini Moo cards, I also got a keychain holder to hold them in, which, as you may have guessed from the title, I did a little bit of decoing to.

The packaging the Moo cards came in, so cute! I love how excited the boxes were for me XD

Oh my gosh, look at them all! Because the cards are really cheap, I went a bit crazy and ordered 100 of them.

All 6 different designs, plus what the back looks like. I have 3 for F Yeah Lolita, and 3 for Ophanim, even though I have links to both F Yeah, and Ophanim's blog and Etsy shop on the back.

And here's a picture of the little case! It fits about 15 Mini Moo cards in it, so I'll always have some on me.

Now, while the case is really cool, I think it needed something a little more Lolitastic, so I busted out all the deco supplies that I have been hoarding and got to work! While I have glued rhinestones and cabochons to things in the past, this was the first real decoing project of mine. And I actually found it really fun and I'm really satisfied with how it turned out. I was going for a "classy" look as opposed to a sweets look that many deco things have. Mostly because I am really not that great at working my silicone icing tube!

Here's a Photoshopped with fake sparkles and gaussian blur and everything picture of the finished case! The cameo and the cross keeps it classy and out of the tacky category right XD? I like to pretend it does.

A not-too-great-photography-wise closeup of the bottom part of the case. I added extra rhinestones to the big rose and even added a hanging cross charm.

Here it is hanging with my couple other cell phone straps, it's almost as big as my actual phone! And I told myself when I got this phone I wouldn't weigh it down with a bunch of junk. I've actually since taken this off my phone, as it kept clanging into a big pink pearl charm I keep on there and I'm really afraid of breaking it. So I guess I'll just be tossing it into my purse, or maybe taking the pearl charm off my phone.

This has really given me the urge to try to deco some more things. I am now on the hunt for little cases that I can slather in glue and rhinestones and plastic things!

Some Creative Coordinates from Alice Deco

Many times, what makes a successful Lolita coordinate is simply wearing all the matching pieces in a set. While there's nothing wrong with this, it does get a little boring, which is probably why the Bibles have lost their sparkle in the eyes of many Lolitas. The magazine Alice Deco a la Mode has replaced the Bibles as a source of inspiration for many. And it's obvious why! The coordinates featured in the magazine are a fresh take on our old favorites. While they are not always strictly Lolita, or even strictly in good taste, it's a great inspiration for when you want to try something a little new and a little different.

Here's a few of my favorite Lolita coordinates from the most recent issue of Alice Deco!

These magazine scans are from The Visual Beast and are from the most recent Alice Deco, vol. 4

You'll notice a few things things with these coordinates, the first being layers! The Alice Decos are really big on layering, adding extra long skirts under shorter skirts, wearing skirts over dresses, or even wearing two dresses at once. This may not translate too well in everyday wear, all those layers are probably bulky and a bit uncomfortable, but it's hard to deny how cool it looks. Another, slightly more realistic, way to make a coordinate interesting that Alice Deco relies on is unique tights and shoes. Check out this old post about doing just that in your coordinates. These coordinates are also less worried about matching perfectly than they are about being creative. While this is sometimes hit or miss, when done successfully it's quite stunning, take the second picture in this post for example, the girl on the right with the little bit of pink bloomers peeking out.

If you're interested in trying out this style on your own, check out the community Daily a la Mode, which is all about wearing Lolita pieces in unique ways.

Lolita Gore Fest

The other day, while procrastinating finishing up cleaning, I was lurking around EGL and saw this awesome film class project posted by LJ user MariaVicious. It's a trailer for a movie that will never be, but it's still awesome to watch and just dream about zombie Lolita apocalypse.

Oh my gosh, how I wish this was a real movie. There's certainly a lack of movies starring Lolitas out there. I mean, there's only so many times I can watch Kamakaze Girls XD

Ironically, I saw this trailer right after I learned about the upcoming real movie, staring what is apparently a psychopathic demon possessed Gothic Lolita, Gothic & Lolita Psycho.

There's apparently not much info out about this upcoming movie at the moment. Expectations for this movie? Not much, movies like this, to me at least, tend to be silly at best. Just girls in fun clothes running around doing shocking things. I certainly am not expecting much from it after finding out that starring idol has the nickname that translates to "Queen of the Beautiful Ass". It could be fun in a cheesy horror romp sort of way, but I'm not really expecting anything profound out of it.

Some After Halloween Treats

I hope everyone had an awesome Halloween. As a little after Halloween treat I want to share a fashion spread in the most recent Kera Maniax (vol. 13) with everyone. This wowed the hell out of me as I was skimming through my newly downloaded volume. And I don't even usually go for the whole "Rococo" look.

Click on the thumbnails to get a full sized picture

These are honestly some of the coolest pictures I've ever seen in a Kera Maniax, and I have since come to prefer Kera Maniax over Gothic & Lolita Bibles, because Kera Maniax has a bit more originality than the all-one-brand coordinates that make up most of the Bibles.
