Lief's Sacred Night Print

Lief is a Korean indies brand that has been around for a few years now but have just recently started pumping out gorgeous print after gorgeous print. Their newest print is called Sacred Night and instead of being a custom printed fabric, as are their other prints, it's a screen print on velveteen.

Their newest print comes in 3 colorways, black on ivory, gold on ivory, and gold on black. This print is available as either a skirt or a JSK and is only available in tea-length (about mid-calf length) which is an unusual length for Lolita but also a very elegant length that the more classically inclined brands often use. The print itself is just gorgeous! It's definitely very wintry looking, covered in stars and snowflakes, but those take a back seat to the gorgeous castle featured on the print, so you can probably get away with wearing this skirt any time that wearing velvet is appropriate.

The first thing that I thought of when I saw this print was that it looked like Moitie's Divine Cross only much more elegant. Yeah, I know Moitie's print has the word "Elegant" (along with "vampire" "romance" and "aristocrat") right on it, but I just am not a fan of this Moitie print. It looks too much like Christian clip art to me, and the print placement looks too awkward to me. As much as I love religious themed prints, what I do not love are glowing crosses exploding forth from my loins.

If you're interested in getting your hands on the Sacred Night print you can pre-order it on Lief's livejournal. Pre-order actually starts tomorrow and the dresses should be released (I assume that means when they will be shipped) on the week of January 23rd. Provided they are actually shipped on that date, as I do believed they had quite a delay with one of their other prints, the Sacred Night print looks like the perfect addition to a winter wardrobe!

  1. So pretty! The gold on red reminds of Baroque paintings. A theatrical explosion of excess!

  4. Those are gorgeous! I absolutely love the black/ivory JSK, like it was made for me. <3

Also, I'll have you know that I laughed really hard at the whole "glowing crosses exploding forth from my loins" bit. Oh Mana, we love you, but you're a pompous fop a lot of the time.

  6. Oh my gosh the length!! It looks so beautiful and elegant. I have a Classic looking dress that's that length and it just looks awkward but this it just amazing. Does Lief have an online shop or do you order through live journal? (I'm not to familiar with live journal)

  8. AFDGHJSK!!! I love this print so much!!! (*O*)
One thing that I would like to say though, MMM's Divine Cross is so much more beautiful in real life, it doesn't look awkward like the stock picture makes it to be.

  13. I'm not sure how I stand on this dress. The velvet is gorgeous, but I just don't like dresses with one large printed thing on them (why I didn't like Moites Divine Cross Print) . I would have adored it if there was just the smaller boxes all around. Or if the print just had continued all around. It's still pretty though!

  14. Wow those are gorgeous, and I like the idea of a longer skirt. I'll have to purchase from them in the future!

  15. I can't help but adore the name of this brand.
'Lief' means 'sweet' in my language, so I always like to read things about it. ^^

P.S... I LOVE tea-length skirts! I'm making a beautiful tea-length IW replica right now... sewing it all by hand... as in, no machine. It's taking FOREVER. But I'm not skimping on the length... I don't like the shorter AP-type stuff coming out now... it looks a little too age-play to me, ya know?

  19. The design is beautiful and meaningful. Have you thought about making a whiteboard animation video to explain its story? It could show the inspiration and details in a fun and engaging way.
